Writing Assignment #1— Trauma-Informed Educator Mission Statement

(120 points; 11 hours of engagement)  Due by 11:59 PM on Saturday of Week 2

The purpose of this personal reflection paper is to clarify your mission and values as a trauma-informed educator.

This paper is to be written in the  first person, include 4-5 pages of written content,   and include the following three sections:

Section 1:  After reading Part 2 of the Souers & Hall text, return to page 50 and answer each question. You may answer each question using bullet points or narrative responses (1-2 pages).

Section 2:  Watch Simon Sinek’s TED Talk on  The Golden Circle. After reflecting on your  why as a trauma-informed educator, create a clear, concise, one- to two-sentence Trauma-Informed Teaching Mission Statement. Write a one-page reflection analyzing the core values embedded in your Purpose Statement that connect you to a trauma-informed approach (1 page).

Section 3:  Reflect on the importance of having clarity in your Mission and Values as a trauma-informed teacher. How might this clarity increase your agency as a teacher and make you a more reflective, self-aware practitioner? How might it support your well-being (1-2 pages)?

· APA 7 formatted cover page, Introduction/Purpose of the Writing (one paragraph) and Conclusion.
