RE: Physician Transformation Strategies

Hi Class,

Week five learning activities section has an article on physician transformation strategies. One of the items mentioned pertains to “… physician’s best practice style as a hospital employed or contracted physicians, in contrast to continuing as independent practitioners… and that transformation for all stakeholders in the health care delivery process must occur to address these challenges.” One needed transformation mentioned is quality of care. From what I have experienced working in health systems, because of the increasing demand for documentation, less time are being spent on patient care as expressed by physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Any thoughts on this? How can this call for physicians to get involve in transformational strategies, one of which is to provide quality care possible when most of their time are spent on paperwork?
